Reading Comprehension: Initial Reading

Is the following sentence TRUE or FALSE?

In Reading Comprehension, the Initial Reading is necessary only with long passages or with passages whose topic you're unfamiliar with. If you come across a short reading passage about a topic with which you’re highly familiar, you do not need to go through the Initial Reading.

You're right!

FALSE. The Initial Reading is the most effective techniques for ALL types of reading passages and should be the first step in dealing with each and every reading passage you encounter.

The shortest reading passage is still about 200 words long. That's quite a lot of text to read, and it is impossible to remember it all. Therefore, if you read the entire text, you'll find yourself reading it - partially or fully - all over again after answering the first question, when the next question appears on the screen.

The same goes for passages whose topic you're familiar with. You still need to read a lot of text, you still cannot remember so much information, so you'll end up reading the passage more than once, which is time consuming.
